At Cinco Peso Training Group, our mission is simple — to equip everyday citizens, educators, and professionals with the confidence and skills to protect themselves and others when seconds count. That mission is led by our founder, a Retired Texas Master Peace Officer with 27 years of law enforcement experience and a lifetime of service to the State of Texas.

A Career Built on Service and Leadership
1994: Began his career as a Texas State Trooper with the Department of Public Safety (DPS), serving communities across the state. 1998: Promoted to Sergeant Investigator in the DPS Criminal Law Enforcement Division’s Narcotics Service, targeting major drug operations across Texas. 2003: Selected to join the Texas Rangers Division, one of the most respected investigative agencies in the world.

Specialized Operations & Tactical Expertise
As a founding member of the Texas Ranger Recon Team, he played a critical role in combating transnational gangs and drug trafficking organizations along the Texas-Mexico border. Received advanced firearms and tactical instruction from U.S. Special Operations Command trainers.

Participated in covert missions and airborne Quick Reaction Force (QRF) deployments during high-risk border operations. Later, he became the founding member and first Team Leader for the Texas Ranger Company B Special Operations Team (SRT)—tasked with executing high-risk felony arrest and search warrants throughout Northeast Texas.

Investigations, Protection, and Operational Planning
Throughout his service as a Texas Ranger, he:
Led complex and violent crime investigations, including homicides and officer-involved shootings. Assisted the Executive Protection Bureau in providing security for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, their families, and visiting dignitaries. Developed and managed mission logistics, training operations, and tactical planning across multiple jurisdictions.

Instructor, Mentor, and Educator
As the author and lead instructor of the Texas Ranger Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) Protocol Course, he has personally trained more than 10,000 students—including law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and investigators from across Texas. He is also a Police Academy Instructor and a TCOLE-Licensed Firearms Instructor with over 17 years of experience teaching.
